Tavern & Table: Dining with a View

Located on historic Shem Creek, the elevated establishment Tavern & Table offers a casual, laid-back atmosphere where attire ranging from business suits to swim trunks or cover ups and flipflops suffice. Whether arriving by car, golf cart or docking your boat at their 140-foot slip, Tavern & Table is the destination for all occasions.

Dining on the chill pull-up boat dock complete with comfy couches and picnic tables or on the large outdoor patio, guests are invited to enjoy monthly events such as oyster roasts, crawfish and crab leg boils, live music on Friday evenings from 5-8 p.m. Check their Instagram @ tavernandtable regularly to stay looped in for upcoming event dates and times.

Using the freshest ingredients, executive chef Dennis Crutchfield has creative license to change up recipes seasonally, while also keeping Southern staples such as brussel sprouts, brisket mac and cheese, pimento cheese and bacon with jam; shrimp and grits, and cornbread, on the menu year-round. It’s easy to see why locals and tourists agree that Tavern & Table Sunday brunch is the only game in town. From a fresh-squeezed mimosa to a hand-crafted bloody Mary to an aperol spritz, paired with crab cake benedict, biscuits and gravy, seasonal donuts or a hash brown bowl, you’ll want to park it on the patio for the entire afternoon until or after the sun begins to set in time for happy hour, when every Monday-Friday evening from 4-7 p.m., Tavern & Table provides specials such as $1 off all well drinks and domestic bottles of beer, as well as select wines for $5 a glass.

You may even want to stay for dinner, where the most difficult part of your day will be deciding whether to devour the chilled seafood platter heaped with oysters, shrimp, crab claws and marinated fish, nibbling on a fig and prosciutto or mushroom flatbread straight out of the brick oven, tasting the pork osso bucco or dining on diver scallops or grilled swordfish. For lighter dishes on the warmer spring evenings, try the roasted beet salad, the avocado shrimp salad or an iceberg wedge, paired with a Sangria, a crisp Portuguese Vinho Verde or an elegant La Jolie Fleur French Rose.

Additionally, if you or a loved one are celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday party, bachelorette party, graduation, prom, business dinner, promotion, baby shower or rehearsal dinner, create memories that will last a lifetime by trusting Tavern & Table to throw the very best bespoke party for you in their private event room with a side patio overlooking the boats moored on the water.

Celebrating nearly 10 years of running Tavern & Table with co-owner and operator Andy Palmer, business partner Jeff Condon said, “What makes me the happiest about working hands-on with our restaurant is when we make someone’s day or night, whether that’s from our food, drink, ambiance, service or overall experience.” Palmer echoed Condon’s enthusiasm for the Tavern & Table experience, saying, “When someone leaves here happy, that makes us happy.”
